August 11, 2005 - Taste of Rome's turnout highlights groups progress

ROME - Progress continues to happen in the town of Rome. The first annual Taste of Rome, hosted by the Rome Connection Committee, was proof that Rome residents are working together to move Rome forward. Despite the hot, steamy weather, the festivities exceeded all expectations. The event brought in an estimated 5,000 people.

Things also are starting to heat up with another committee, the Dog Park Committee. After much tenacity and determination by Rick Ramstack, the Town Board approved a location for the dog park in July. The committee will begin working on fundraising and sponsorships to fund the dog park so taxpayer dollars are not used.

The month of July was a busy one for the Progress Initiative in Rome. The month ended with a brat fry hosted by the collaborative efforts of the Rome is More Team and Rome Community Fund committee members. Thanks to all who supported the event.

The Rome Is More Team also was very busy working on its PowerPoint presentation. A voice-over was added to the presentation by a specialist who graciously donated her time and expertise to make this happen. The purpose of the presentation is to educate others about what Rome has to offer, the benefits of the initiative, and the purpose and objectives of the Rome is More progress team.

The Rome is More team also created a colorful brochure that can be found at several businesses in town and at the Rome Town Hall. Please be sure to pick one up.

Keep your eyes and ears open for many things yet to come from the Rome is More team. Exciting projects are being worked on, which will continue to move Rome forward.

The Rome Is More team continues to meet every two weeks. For more information about the Community Progress Initiative, visit http:progressinitiative.com.
