August 29, 2005 - Enjoy Vesper every Tuesday

Letter to the Editor

Truckloads of fresh-picked corn, locally grown tomatoes of every size, squash, beans, kohlrabi, potatoes, blackberries, plums, watermelon and an ever-changing variety of Wisconsin-grown produce is what you can expect to find at the Vesper Farmers Market.

Heirloom and unusual varieties of produce are sold right along with your old favorites.

Thirteen sellers participated in the market last Tuesday. In addition to produce the market also had Amish-baked goods, bison meat, crafts, plants, honey, crocheted pieces, flowers, T-shirts, and many other items for sale. We had such a large variety of items for sale last week that it was suggested to me that we rename the Farmers Market "The Vesper Mall."

While you're in Vesper, you can also stop by the Brickyard Family Restaurant for its ribs special on Tuesdays, get a soft-serve ice cream cone at Winch's, exercise or play at our new Recreation Center, take a bike ride on our beautiful country roads, or experience nature at its best at the historic Powers Bluff County Park.

Thanks to the front-page article "Vesper Market Blooms" in the Daily Tribune, the help of many volunteers, and the work of the Vesper Community Progress Initiative on Tuesdays, Vesper is now the place to be.

The Vesper Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday at the Community Center Park.
