September 29, 2005 - Rudolph gets people involved, makes progress

Christy Steinle and Kathy Hartjes, for the Daily Tribune

Editor's note: The Daily Tribune will regularly run columns updating Community Progress Initiative activities in local communities

Rudolph has a new business organization and a new community event. Margaret Mead once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Rudolph is doing just that.

Our Rudolph Community Fund committee thanks the Rudolph Fire Department, Rudolph Elementary PTS, St. Philip's School Organization, Brownie/Girl Scouts, Cub/Boy Scouts, Rudolph Old Tractor Club and citizens for their donations. Our endowment fund total is $4,120.

We intend to make the $20,000 goal in order to benefit from the generous matching dollars offered by the Barker Mead Fund through the Community Foundation of South Wood County. Rudolph residents truly want to preserve our rural appeal. Leaders of our community are joining forces. We held the first-ever joint Village and Town Board meeting. Folks are seeing the benefit of networking and are pursuing a Rudolph area Web site. This will be an expansion of the Country Christmas Web site. The Rudolph Area Businesses Club is a new development and is proving to be a great asset to the community. Business owners decided to pursue hosting a sports event as a major fundraiser. The group is holding a kickball tournament at the park. (Yes, the run-and-kick game you played as a kid.)

Come to Rudolph on Oct. 8 for our first Fall Kick-Off. All proceeds will go to the Rudolph Community Fund. We'll have food, drinks, and deejay entertainment from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Rudolph Community Park. Get a group of 10 friends together for a "team" and join us for kickball in Rudolph. (To register, contact Christy at dsteinle@wctc.net.)

If you would like to get involved in the Rudolph Progress Team or the Rudolph Community Fund, please let us know. Indeed, as a thoughtful, involved, committed citizen, you can help change the world.

Christy Steinle and Kathy Hartjes are co-chairwomen of the Rudolph Progress Team .
