December 29, 2005 - Visitor's guide will be different

By Karin Mast, for the Daily Tribune

The 2006 edition of the official Wisconsin Rapids Area Visitors Guide will be unveiled by the Wisconsin Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. The guide, a trusted resource for finding and experiencing everything the region has to offer, will arrive in mid-January.

Earlier this year, volunteers from the tourism cluster met with the CVB to discuss and recommend changes for the 2006 edition. The tourism cluster provided community expertise and an understanding of the area. Upon reviewing nearly 100 other visitor guides, the cluster volunteers recommended several changes.

The changes include the addition of information about local communities, more photos, better descriptions for local attractions, an expanded calendar of events and a bigger size for the guide, which will be published in a magazine-style format.

Detailed descriptions of things to do, a large calendar of events and an expanded recreation section offer something for everyone in the guide. First-time visitors and residents alike will find relaxing, adventurous and rustic ways to experience the perfect vacation, weekend getaway or day trip.

Attend the next tourism cluster meeting at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 19 to get the latest news and participate in discussions that impact our community. All are welcome.

Karin Mast is the executive director of the Wisconsin Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and a member of the Community Progress Initiative Tourism Cluster.
