Breaking News February 2, 2006 - Newsletter set to launch By: Chelsey Ross, for Daily Tribune Editor's note: The Daily Tribune will regularly run columns updating Community Progress Initiative activities and the work of its groups in local communities. Good things are happening in the community, and we want you to know about them. Hundreds of local residents are playing an active role in shaping our community's future. These ordinary citizens are "making it happen" every day. Since its beginning, the Community Progress Initiative has opened doors of opportunity for making our community stronger and better for the future by addressing what's needed today. As the initiative reaches its mid-point and we look back to where we began, there are hundreds of uplifting stories to tell. The first edition of Making it Happen, a new bi-monthly newsletter, focuses on some of our residents' successes during the Community Progress Initiative. Stories fall under two major categories: "building a strong and positive community" and "creating a business-friendly culture." Articles will feature everything from progress teams' visions and accomplishments to learning how to start a new business and be successful. You don't want to miss the first issue of Making it Happen, coming out early this month: Pittsville at the center; movies under the stars in Port Edwards; one woman carries out a business dream for herself and her late sister; and ... have you seen the new public artwork in Wisconsin Rapids? Keep an eye out for Making it Happen in early to mid-February. Read what's going on in our communities and what you can do to "make it happen!" If you have questions or comments, or would like to be added to the Making It Happen mailing list, please call Chelsey Ross at 715-423-3863. Chelsey Ross is a communications student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and she coordinates Making It Happen, a new bi-monthly newsletter featuring news from the Community Progress Initiative. |
