Breaking News March 2, 2006 - Vesper group thankful for community By: Ruth Cline, for the Daily Tribune Last year was an exciting year for the Vesper area community. Together, we have many success stories to tell. The Vesper Area Community Fund Committee sent out more than 800 letters in October asking for support for the Vesper Area Community Fund. Due to the generous contributions from Vesper Area Community residents, family, friends, businesses and organizations, the Vesper Area Community Fund has grown to $7,297.96. Thank you to all the folks who have contributed to the fund. Our goal is to raise $20,000, and we still need help from the Vesper Area Community and others to accomplish this. All contributions to the Vesper Area Community Fund will be matched dollar for dollar by the Barker Mead Fund at Community Foundation of South Wood County, up to $20,000. For example, if you donate $50, the Barker Mead Fund will donate $50 to match your contribution, which means the Vesper Area Community Fund grows by a total of $100. Once we raise the $20,000 and receive the matching dollars, the fund amount of $40,000 will be invested for Vesper forever! The principle of the fund is never spent, as the account earns interest and dividends, a portion of the earnings is distributed annually in the form of grants that support the area's community improvement projects, not just for Vesper, but for within and around the Vesper area. Contributions may be made directly to the Vesper Area Community Progress Fund. Make checks payable to Vesper Area Fund, mail to: Community Foundation of South Wood County, 478 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids WI 54494. For more information, call me at 569-4202 or e-mail stonegate@tznet.com. Ruth Cline is a Community Progress Initiative team volunteer for the Vesper area. |
