March 27, 2006 - Group offers introduction to training

By: Doris Mcallister, for the Daily Tribune

Editor's note: The Daily Tribune will regularly run columns updating Community Progress Initiative activities and the work of its groups in local communities.

Greetings from the Workforce Training and Education Cluster.

We are a team comprised of 13 active participants who vary in our occupations -- from private industry, to public sector, to students. But we all share a common thread: A passion for training and education with the belief that an investment in employee development is one of the key factors to an organization's success.

Our vision statement is: "Just the right training, just in time."

In central Wisconsin, there is an abundance of training and professional development opportunities. Our cluster does the hard work for you -- we sift and sort through the various training available in this region. This means the training investment is without added costs for food, mileage or time away from work for travel and lodging expense.

For employers, training enables you to upgrade your employees' specific skills that increase business productivity and loyalty, decrease turnover and waste, and create a corporate culture that earns a reputation for caring for its employees.

For employees, we bring you the available training seminars in our region that increase your skills in a non-threatening learning environment.

In the end, it's a win-win for everyone: Employers in the Wisconsin Rapids area are able to offer their employees an opportunity to upgrade their skills in the most efficient and effective manner, and the employees bring their world-class skills and outlook back to the workforce. As an added bonus, dollars are kept local in our community, which boosts economic development activities.

This is a call to all Heart of Wisconsin employers to identify the skills and competencies your employees need by contacting the Workforce Training and Education cluster at the Heart of Wisconsin at 715-423-1830. We will match your needs with the available training opportunities in the area, or connect you one-on-one with local training providers who will meet with you to set up targeted training.

Our cluster helps to ensure that businesses have access to the training needed to sustain their trade. The Workforce Training and Education Cluster is your training partner. We link you with certified training providers. Just the right training, just in time.

Doris McAllister is a Workforce Training and Education Cluster member.
