Breaking News April 10, 2006 - Rome teams meet Wednesday By: Kaye Eckert, for the Daily Tribune Editor's note: The Daily Tribune will regularly publish columns updating Community Progress Initiative activities and the work of its groups in local communities. Wednesday is the day all Rome Community Progress Initiative teams will meet and update each other on their progress and plans. The meeting will be at the Town Hall at 7 p.m. "We're expecting this to be an interesting time because several committees have been very active," says Arlene Scalzo who is co-chair with Sharon McCray of the Rome Is More Team. The Rome Is More Team coordinates Rome's Community Initiatives. Here are a few of the highlights: * The new Cookbook Committee already has plans to share. * The Rome Connection Committee's goal to bridge all communities in the Rome area will update all on plans for this year's Taste of Rome event. * The Dog Park Team, kicked into high gear now that spring is in the air, will share plans and projected time frames for the new park. * A very active Funds Committee will display and discuss its fundraising ideas for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend garage sales and Taste of Rome event. Everyone on a Rome Community Progress Initiative committee is invited to come and listen and share ideas about what we want to see happen in our community. People not on a committee but interested in joining one, starting one or just coming to listen and participate are equally welcome. See you there! Kaye Eckert is a member of the Rome is More team. |
