August 8, 2006 - Progress Initiative receives recognition

By: Daily Tribune Staff

In June, the Community Development Society recognized the Community Progress Initiative at its 38th annual International Conference of the Community Development Society in St. Louis, Mo.

The recognition was given to individuals and programs that excelled in the field of community development.

The society also awarded the Progress Initiative with the 2006 CDS Innovative Program award for the development of a series of programs integrated into delivery to create a momentum and stimulate a positive shift in community culture that cultivates economic growth and community vitality, the society stated in a press release.

Registration open for Ireland trip

The Community Progress Initiative is now accepting registrations for its Ireland Regional Innovation Study Tour from Nov. 3 to 12.

Participants will tour West Cork and Monaghan counties and the cities of Belfast and Dublin. They will focus on creating and fostering entrepreneurial industry networks and partnerships, regional branding, stimulating a local culture of leadership, innovation and small business networks. They will also examine education's role in economic development and a growing technology industry, and community philanthropy and building community capacity for self-reliance

Excluding airfare, the tour costs $2,250. This amount includes lodging, most meals, ground transportation, tour leaders, programs and coordination.

Flights direct to Dublin cost about $550 through Midwest Airlines.

For more information on the trip, contact the Heart of Wisconsin Business & Economic Alliance at 422-4865.
