August 28, 2006 - Changes in work now and in the future

By: Mari Shaw, for the Daily Tribune

The evolution of work and the ability to earn one’s livelihood has come through the agriculture and industrial societies and currently has entered the arena of the highly specialized Technological Era. To comprehend the impact this revolutionary change has made on our way of life and the predictions for the future of our 21 Century workers’ employment opportunities, we engaged the well known speaker Terry F. Ludeman to share his views on the CHANGES IN WORK NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.

Mr. Ludeman, the former Chief of the Office of Economic Advisors for the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development, will speak at the Performing Arts Center September 19, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. His discussion will include:

-Wisconsin’s labor market development and trends, both short and long term;
-A view of Wisconsin’s industry makeup and the importance of that makeup;
-An inside look into Information Technology, Health, and Agriculture/Natural Resources occupations; and
-Supply of labor – emphasis on pending developments such as aging baby boomers and brain drain.

Mr. Ludeman is an entertaining, intelligent, forward-thinking and creative person. He has the gift of transforming academic topics into relevant messages with unforgettable impact. Through the presentation of reliable data, as well as his vast experience working with labor market information, he is able to open eyes, help participants see the big picture and perhaps, even make them laugh a few times. This is a MUST ATTEND for all area residents but particularly, those re-entering the workforce or those planning for their futures in the changing world of work.
