October 2, 2006 - Meet business owners next door

By: Melissa Loken, for the Daily Tribune

Small businesses are fast becoming the drivers of the economy. Who are these business owners? They are your next-door neighbors, the people you worked with in the paper mill, the mom you got to know at the play group. They are the people who sat next to you in classes at Mid-State Technical College. People just like you, are the business owners making a difference in our community.

Small business owners are generally patient and persevering in nature yet love a challenge. Listening and communication are skills they hone. Positive thinking and self-confidence exude from them. They enjoy the freedom involved in creating their own future. They have their own reasons for embracing their entrepreneurial spirit yet share common goals for success. The small business owner can be you.

On Oct. 26 to 28 and Oct. 30, another Entrepreneurial Boot Camp will be held at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. Over the course of the four sessions, attendees will be introduced to the professionals in our community who can help their businesses be successful.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to begin developing real relationships with an accountant, attorney, bankers, marketing professionals, leadership expert, technical advisers and small business owners.

The people joining the journey into entrepreneurship quickly become sounding boards and provide support as business plans are developed. The questions that may be holding one back will be answered.

The cost for the Entrepreneurial Boot Camp is $75, and there are scholarship opportunities. I invite you to come on in and explore the world of entrepreneurship with real people providing real opportunities.

Please contact me at 422-4856 with any question or to register for Entrepreneurial Boot Camp.
