Breaking News October 23, 2006 - Rudolph Progress Fund reachs goal By: Dawn Vruwink, for the Daily Tribune RUDOLPH -- More great news from Rudolph. The Rudolph Progress Fund has reached $20,000. Thank you to all who made a donation. Your generosity made it possible for the Rudolph Progress Fund to receive the full $20,000 match from the Barker Mead Fund through Community Foundation of South Wood County. This brings the total of the fund to more than $40,000. Rudolph Progress Fund is an endowed fund. This is a permanent account where the principal balance is never spent; it is endowed. It will be for Rudolph, forever, to support unique community projects. Leading the fundraising efforts is the Rudolph Progress Fund Committee: Jeff Hartman (chairman), Dale Aumann, Kathy Hartjes, Susan Jackan, Sue Mann and Lois Slattery (past member). Committee efforts have included development of a pledge brochure with community photos, a mass community mailing, personal contacts, newspaper pieces, recognition of donors, development of grant application criteria and evaluation of local grants. In an effort to continue progress, the Rudolph Progress Fund Committee has implemented a fundraising plan that will help generate funds for many years to come. They are marketing a commemorative ornament series that will feature a new design each year. Net proceeds from the keepsake holiday ornaments will go directly to the Rudolph Progress Fund. In addition, the Rudolph Progress Fund Committee is working on a new pledge brochure. The intent is to help the community recognize the benefits of annual donations to continue growing the fund. Donations to the fund support the Rudolph Community through grants awarded from the fund. Since the fund's inception, many exciting community activities have been supported by the fund including: Rudolph Sesquicentennial Book, Rudolph Sesquicentennial Celebration, the Fall Kickoff Event and a Rudolph kiosk display case. The Rudolph Progress Fund Committee cannot extend enough thanks to the businesses, municipalities, organizations and residents who have made financial donations directly to the Rudolph Progress Fund. A local progress fund is available in each of our seven local communities -- Nekoosa, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rome, Rudolph, Vesper and Wisconsin Rapids. Visit www.progressinitiative.com for more information. The purpose of your local community funds and the Community Progress Initiative is keeping money local and creating more vibrant communities. It's a grassroots effort, and it's up to local citizens to make it happen. |
