Breaking News November 27, 2006 - Warm up coffee, donation By Tom Marshall, for the Daily Tribune On Dec. 4, you can support the Wisconsin Rapids Area Progress Fund by making a beverage purchase from one of the following establishments: Big Apple Bagels, Cravings, From the Ground Up, Hurley Coffee Co. and McMillan Coffeehouse. Thanks to the generosity of these local businesses, all proceeds from your beverage purchases will go to the fund, which supports unique community improvement projects in the Wisconsin Rapids, Biron and Grand Rapids areas. The Wisconsin Rapids Area Progress Fund represents Wisconsin Rapids, Biron and Grand Rapids. Donations to the Wisconsin Rapids Area Progress Fund support projects in those areas. Please help support our community by purchasing a beverage at one of our locally owned establishments on Dec. 4. Remember that every dollar spent on beverages will be doubled. Support businesses that are locally owned and support your community. The Wisconsin Rapids Area Progress Fund is one of seven local progress funds in our area. The purpose of these permanently endowed funds is to support unique community improvement projects in our local communities. Each fund has a committee of local citizens who review grant applications and, based on grant guidelines, decide which proposals to fund. Visit www.progressinitiative.com for more information on your local progress fund. Each progress fund committee is working tirelessly to build these funds, and you can help. Right now, all donations to the progress funds are being matched, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000 by the Barker Mead Fund, through the Community Foundation of South Wood County. But you must act quickly. This matching opportunity is only available until Dec. 31. The Wisconsin Rapids Area Progress Fund thanks you for your support and hopes to see you out on Dec. 4. |
