Breaking News January 8, 2007 - Congratulations for successful fund campaigns By: Traci Stinebrink, for the Daily Tribune Congratulations to six Community Progress Funds -- they all have met their goal to raise $20,000 by Dec. 31: Nekoosa, Port Edwards, Rome, Rudolph, Vesper and Wisconsin Rapids area. Donations to the Progress Funds, up to $20,000 each, will be doubled by the Barker Mead Fund through Community Foundation of South Wood County. This means that each community has a permanent endowment fund with a principal balance more than $40,000, and earnings that will be used toward community-improvement grants forever. We say, Great job to all the Progress Fund volunteers and donors. You are making it happen for your area. The Community Foundation of South Wood County would like to recognize the committee members who have worked so hard to raise these funds during the last two years. Nekoosa Area Progress Fund committee: Ruth Moody, Jane Anderson, Carol Arendt, Keith Clary, Marena Erickson, Bob Birkhauser and Dr. John Thompson. Port Edwards Progress Fund committee: Jim Custer, Bob Barton, Marshall Buehler, Joanne Clark, Tom Dachel, Lisa Miller, Ed Saylor and Trent Tell. Rome Progress Fund committee: Bob Ebben, Sharon McCray, John Prey and Jane Spencer. Rudolph Progress Fund committee: Jeff Hartman, Dale Aumann, Kathy Hartjes, Sue Jackan and Sue Mann. Vesper Area Progress Fund committee: Ruth Cline, Ray Behling, Diane Kohls and Dan Scheunemann. Wisconsin Rapids Area Progress Fund committee: Tom Marshall, Dan Huotari, Beth Knobeck, Libby Rosandick, Gary Rosencrans and Lorraine Schmutzer. These dedicated community members have reason to celebrate the New Year. They have raised more than $120,000 for South Wood County and Rome. The generosity of the Barker Mead Fund matching gifts brings this total to more than $240,000 that will remain in our community permanently -- for good, forever. The Community Foundation of South Wood County, along with the Progress Fund committee members, would like to thank all those who saw the importance of supporting their community through donations to these unique funds. Your generosity has been outstanding, and we thank you. For more information on the Progress Funds and the Community Progress Initiative, visit progressinitiative.com.
