February 6, 2007 - It's your turn to be a community leader

By Jill Cavanaugh, for the Daily Tribune

Ever wanted to make a difference in your community or organization?

The "It's Your Turn!" Community Leadership Explorations offer a short, fun and valuable opportunity for up to 20 community people to get the leadership basics in training and support to develop your skills for contributing to your community and organizations.

The sessions will be informal, engaging and stimulating -- and the chance to meet and network with like-minded people committed to the future of our community and region.

Explorations run from 12:30 p.m. Friday to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and are open for all people (ages 21 and older) to apply to participate. The only condition is that you want to have fun and make a difference.

The program offers training in community leadership basics including:
• Community leadership -- how to contribute to your community and organizations
• How communities work -- and how can you make a difference and have fun.
• Why people say everyone can be a leader -- and what leadership skills do you have?
• The Community Progress Initiative -- how it works and how people make it happen.

There are two dates to choose from: March 2 and 3 or April 20 and 21

Bring a team of three to five people from your community or organization for maximum benefits and fun.

Support from The Ford Foundation underwrites the cost of participating in this program.
