February 26, 2007 - Learn more about arts and heritage

By Mary Olson, for the Daily Tribune

What does our area have to offer in the way of arts and heritage?

Have you ever stopped to consider the tremendous arts, cultural and historical assets we have right here in south Wood County and the Rome area? How can arts and heritage play a role in economic development?

A formative group, the new Arts & Heritage Cluster, is considering all of these things, and the public is invited to hear more.

Attend a presentation by the Arts & Heritage Cluster next week to learn how cluster members are taking lessons learned from other states and countries to help foster the arts and heritage of our own region. Choose the date and time that works best for you. Both presentations will be held at the Central Wisconsin Cultural Center, 240 Johnson St., Wisconsin Rapids:

• 6:30 p.m. March 6.
• Program repeats at 9 a.m. March 7.
• North Carolina and Ireland Study Tour highlights/lessons learned.
• Discussion on the arts and heritage assets of our area.
• Opportunity to become part of a formative group, the Arts & Heritage Cluster, dedicated to engaging and illuminating our arts and heritage.

The presentation is free and open to the public. Please pass along this information and invite anyone you think would care to participate. Bring a friend. We hope to see you.

Mary Olson is co-chairwoman of the Arts & Heritage Industry Cluster of the Community Progress Initiative, www.progressinitiative.com.
