Breaking News May 21, 2007 - Festival celebrates blossoming changes in community By Mary Brazeau Brown, for the Daily Tribune You might have heard people going around saying "think pink" and wondered what the buzz was all about. "Think pink" is to think healthy and be positive. One month from today begins the four-day inaugural Cranberry Blossom Festival and a chance for everyone to celebrate the healthy and positive direction of our community. Join us for a series of more than 20 events including Cinema Under the Stars, a downtown arts walk featuring local blossoming artists, live music, arts and crafts, cranberry blossom tours and golf scramble. Cranberry culinary treats include "crancakes" at the Dairy and Berry Breakfast, cranberry glazed chicken hosted by the Wisconsin Rapids Firefighters and Lions Club and a Winemakers Dinner featuring cranberries at the Hotel Mead by famed Chef Randall Smith. Also keep your eyes open for the bigger-than-life "Cranberry Guy." Sunday's parade celebrating "Our Blossoming Community" will be led by none other than Bucky Badger. Whether starting a new business, being a good neighbor, graduating from college, recovering from an illness, cultivating cooperation or simply growing as a person, we are all blossoming in one way or another. Join the parade and share in celebrating the successes within our community. Commemorative T-shirts will be available for those wanting to walk in the parade. We have the ability to create an atmosphere and attitude that is positive, productive and allows for our community to continue to blossom. Enjoy the blossoming pink plants around town created by our local Master Gardeners that complement the wonderful new historic murals. Give thanks and show appreciation to those who make a positive difference in your life. ,br> The Greater Wisconsin Rapids area is blessed with not only an abundance of natural beauty and a rich agricultural heritage, but also with a quality of life and a strong infrastructure hard to find anywhere else. It is a positive place to be. Mark June 21 to 24 on your calendars and plan on celebrating "Our Blossoming Community." For more information or available entry forms, please visit www.blossomfest.com or call the Wisconsin Rapids Convention and Visitors Bureau at 422-4650.
