July 16, 2007 - Boot Camp helps business develop

By: Melissa Lokan, for the Daily Tribune

If you are in business or considering opening a business, mark your calendar for Aug. 1 to 3 and 6.

You will have the opportunity to make valuable connections at Entrepreneurial Boot Camp. The camp helps participants to create a path to business success. This is the place for you to explore your ideas and work through your plans in a safe, confidential environment.

Community volunteers who are experts in areas such as legal, marketing, financial planning, market segmentation, finance and business development will provide you with practical advice and tools to make your business successful. Ideas are shared, and often collaborations between participants shape partnerships and spark new business ideas. Support networks are created that last well beyond the initial weekend of the boot camp.

Kim Moon, previous attendee of the Boot Camp, had this to say when asked who she would recommend to attend the camp, "Anyone considering going into business would benefit from this." This comment has been echoed by numerous graduates of the Entrepreneurial Boot Camp.

Boot Camp is held at Mid-State Technical College's Wisconsin Rapids campus in Grand Rapids. The cost is $75 and includes all materials and some meals. Limited scholarships also are available.

You are also welcome to join us from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. July 27 at the Heart of Wisconsin Alliance for the Breakfast Club. This is a place for business owners and managers to have discussion around key business issues and gain knowledge from a Hattie Bryant, Small Business School video. The conversation is lively and the possibilities for impact on your business are limitless. This program is free of charge.

If you have a desire to fuel or rekindle the entrepreneurial fire within you, then call 422-4856 to register for any of the programs or visit www.heartofwi.com and click on calendar of events and the name of the event to register online. Melissa Loken is Business Development Specialist with the Heart of Wisconsin Business & Economic Alliance.
