September 10, 2007 - Rudolph set to kick off

By: Kathy Hartjes and Christy Steinle, for the Daily Tribune

Rudolph is hosting its Third annual Fall Kick-Off on Sept. 15 with a Kickball Tournament starting at 9 a.m.

Thanks to the work of Jeff Hartman and other Rudolph Little League/Softball League parents, we're set for a great day of fun. Schedules and prizes are ready.

Coffee, doughnuts and rolls will be ready for the early spectators along with sample gift items from Sandy's Flour Shop. Starting at around 10 a.m., our loyal Boy Scout Troop will be firing up the grills for burgers and hotdogs to be served with fries. They'll also have soda and bottled water. Our local fire department once again is hosting the beer tent area later.

Look for distinctive fall home decorations/displays from Country Freckles of Wisconsin Rapids. Other crafters from the area and Tomah and Marshfield also have been invited.

This event is co-sponsored by Rusty's Backwater Saloon and the Rudolph Community Progress Team. Our 2007 Rudolph Collector Ornament will be available in the small concession stand. This year's design was submitted by Katy Baciak, then a ninth-grade art student of Sharon Aiken-Bruha of West Junior High. Joe Clark, Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools art teacher, spearheaded a district-wide contest to find a local designer. (Watch for a follow-up article on this contest from Linda Hobbs, our local postmaster.)

All events take place at the Rudolph Community Park, just one block west of Highway 34. It's a beautiful location with large playground, ball diamonds, shelter house/restrooms and lots of shade. Come spend a day in Rudolph.

Kathy Hartjes and Christy Steinle are co-chairwomen of the Rudolph Progress Team.
