October 13, 2008 - Balancing Risks

By Melissa Loken for the Daily Tribune

Risk Management is defined, by the Free Dictionary, as “The process of identifying, assessing, and controlling, risks arising from operational factors and making decisions that balance risk cost with mission benefits.” The decision to open or expand a new business is dependent upon risk management. The Entrepreneurial Boot Camp can help you explore the idea of becoming self-employed, while gaining practical advice from business operation professionals.

The Boot Camp takes people considering starting a new business or expanding a business through experiences that can help analyze the risks and rewards associated with their business idea. A series of engaging speakers bring real world examples to life for participants. This is a safe, confidential environment that connects people with experts that listen and ask you questions to help you determine if this is the right time to take your idea to the next level.

The next Entrepreneurial Boot Camp will be held at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids, on November 6th and 7th, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., 8th from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on the 10th. The cost is $75.00 and includes materials and refreshments. Scholarships are available. Register online at www.heartofwi.com or call 715.423.1830.

Brooks Atkinson states “This nation was built by men who took risks - pioneers who were not afraid of the wilderness, business men who were not afraid of failure, scientists who were not afraid of the truth, thinkers who were not afraid of progress, dreamers who were not afraid of action.” I invite you to be a part of the next generation of pioneers who build a new future for our community.
