Breaking News November 11, 2004 By Jill Dillon Recently an article on the subject of biking was run on the front page of the Lifestyle section in the Daily Tribune. It was quite a large article with several photos and quotes from area businesses. Although the article was well-written and interesting, I would like to express my disappointment in the lack of courtesy extended to two local businesses. In the listing of area bike shops, both Trailhead Bike and Skate of Wisconsin Rapids and The Hostel Shoppe of Stevens Point were omitted, while other bike shops in Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point and Marshfield were all included. A simple consulting of the Wood County Telephone Co. Yellow Pages would have provided a list of all the area bicycle dealers. This was not a paid advertisement, but rather a courtesy listing for the community to consult when looking for a local bike shop. Our current Community Progress Initiative is under way to promote the community and to encourage entrepreneurial ventures. If our goal is to get people to invest in this community, then we need to continue to support all of the people who are doing just that. |
